Meta-Analysis of COVID-19 Spread in Meat Processing Plants and Recommended Practical Actions

Recently, the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has increased among workers meat processing plants (MPPs) around world. This study reviewed possible routes severe acute respiratory syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission and useful actions against it in slaughterhouses. The results revealed that main factors for virus included low indoor temperature, crowded area, wrong standing along production lines, contamination high-touch surfaces, difficult education with diverse native languages, financial income, large MPPs over 10 million Ib packed per month, higher speed lines 175 birds/minute, temporary contract workers, weak approach some companies COVID-19 infection such as National Beef. rate was 24 times than population US. practical were mainly marker using remembering previous location, mandatory mask use, especially FFP2/3 masks, decentralization MPPs. By this study, slaughterhouse managers would be able to significantly control SARS-CoV-2 future bio-threats even society.
